Nanaimo Park B-Ball court.

The movement of the large B-Ball nets to a separate court was requested by the CA to address conflicts with smaller children in the playground area.  The small net will remain at its current location.  After a few years delay the city has moved forward and construction is scheduled to start August 27. Completion is required by October 15 according to their RFP.  We have requested that construction near the community centre be completed prior to the start of school.

The plan below received a supporting motion at our annual AGM on Oct 19 2017.

Leslie Park – Picnic in the Park

SATURDAY, JUNE 23rd
4:00pm-8:00pm

Come to the park at 4:00pm to enjoy a scavenger hunt, face painting, crafts and our very first local artisan showcase! We are excited to show off the talent in our community so if you are interested in displaying your handmade crafts, gifts or other items please review the details below.

At 5:30pm, the BBQ will be ready, and the pot luck dinner will begin. After dinner, take in live music from Leslie Park’s own Dave Milliken. Please bring chairs or a picnic blanket for you and your family to enjoy your dinner on.

About the Artisan Showcase:

The showcase will run from 4:00-5:30pm and we will set up close to the garden. Table space will be available for you to display your work (2 artisans per 8 ft. table) – there is no charge to participate in the showcase. To secure table space, you must email info@lesliepark.ca by Monday, June 11

About the Potluck Dinner:

Councillor Chiarelli’s office has generously provided hot dogs, and the LPCA will provide hamburgers, lemonade and water. Please bring something to share – salads, side dishes, appetizers or desserts are a great complement to the BBQ. In consideration for the many families with nut allergies, please bring something nut-free so everyone can enjoy your dish. We will begin accepting food at 5:00pm – please keep your dish cool (or warm) until it is ready to serve at 5:30pm (Please label your dishes and serving utensils)

To minimize costs and waste, we ask that people please bring their own dishes and cutlery for dinner. Let’s ‘leave no trace’! Please take any uneaten food home with you to consume or compost after the Picnic.

Special thanks to Dayton residents Karyn Bowman and Jim McNally whose businesses are sponsoring the event!

See you on the 23rd!
