Community Orienteering Event
The Ottawa Orienteering Club invites you to try an urban orienteering event right here in our community this Sunday, April 28th.
Orienteering involves finding your way to multiple checkpoints with the use of a map and compass. It is a family-friendly activity for some and a competitive sport for others.
This is a low-key drop-in event. The registration is at St Paul’s High School from 10:00 – 11:00 and the event runs from 10:30 – 11:30. Cost is $13 adult, $7 child, under age 8 are free.
The four courses offered are:
- Novice – 2.4 km
- Intermediate – 4.3 km
- Short Advanced – 5.2 km
- Long Advanced – 7.7 km
New to orienteering? Join us at 10:30 for a 15 minute mini-intro to Orienteering. We ask that you arrive early enough to register for the event first so you have a map in-hand. The instructor will cover the event type, general procedures (SI stick, Clear and Check, finish process etc), safety information and basic map reading/navigation pointers. Look for the sign near the registration table and we’ll see you there.
