This type of incident can happen to anyone, male, female, young or old.  Please consider the following safety tips

–       Notify people of your plans (where you are going, how you plan to get there, your travel route, what time you will be home, who you will be with)
–       Be aware of your surroundings (know who’s around you and what’s going on (don’t walk with cell phone in hand and head down).
–       Walk with confidence and purpose. Be wary of isolated areas
–       If you think you are being followed changed directions and look for open stores, restaurants or lighted home, flag down a taxi or police officer.  Call police as soon as possible
–       Above all trust your gut feeling.  If your instincts tell you that another person’s actions are threatening or an environment is unsafe or uneasy remove yourself.

Draper Area Sexual Assault under investigation

(Ottawa) — The Ottawa Police Service Sexual Assault and Child Abuse (SACA) Section is investigating a complaint of a sexual assault in the area of Draper Avenue.

On January 21, 2016 around 8:00pm, Ottawa Police received a report of a 16 year old female being grabbed from behind, pushed to the ground and inappropriately touched by two male suspects.  The female was walking in the area of Draper Avenue and Lisa Avenue.

Both suspects are described as black males, 17 to 20 years old, thin build and approximately 6’ (183cm).  They were both dressed in all black clothing with black hooded sweaters.  One of the suspects was wearing thin red gloves.  They fled on foot eastbound towards Greenbank Road.
